Adoptable dogs in CT
You can check out available dogs on our Adoptable Dogs page. From puppies to senior dogs, small dogs to big dogs, Dog Star Rescue is the best place to adopt your next best furry friend from. We get many new adoptable dogs each week so if you don’t see a furry friend that melts you, be sure to check back often. All of our dogs are either in foster homes or boarding facilities in CT, or coming from our rescue partners in the next few weeks.
Weekly adoption events
We always encourage you to come to any of our adoption events to meet our dogs in person. Before you come to an event though, it’s important to understand our adoption process. Remember that we are all volunteers and united in a mission to place our dogs in the best homes for them.
- The pre-qualification process does take several days so we appreciate you understanding that our dedication to being thorough is so that we can ensure our dogs go to the best homes for them.
- Our adoption process starts with completion of our adoption application
- You do NOT have to select a specific dog in the dog drop-down list to go through the pre-qualification process if you don’t know which one you’re most interested in.
- We will respond by email within 24 hours. PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM/JUNK FOLDER. We will close your application if you don’t respond to our multiple communication attempts.
- Our adoption process also includes a calling your vet (if you’ve previously had a pet) so we can ensure that you’ve kept up with wellness checks and vaccinations, reference checks, a phone or interview, and/or meet and greet with family members. Your dogs must be medically up-to-date and spayed/neutered.
- If you already have other dogs in the home and have picked the perfect dog for you, we also require a dog meet and greet so we can ensure that we feel the pets will love each other as much as you love them. This most likely will happen at our Bloomfield, CT headquarters.
